England Travel Blog
We love visiting England and have visited many times, London is one of our favourite cities and we recently spent 6 months exploring the length and breadth of England while living like a local house sitting across the country. Our England travel blog will help you plan your visit to England.
Visited by millions of tourists every year England has so much to offer. From the rich history of the historical Palaces and stately homes to the beautiful countryside and small medieval villages.
England may be small compared to Australia and the USA, but the diversity of culture, climate, landscapes and history make England one of the most fascinating countries in the world.
We have walked in the steps of some of England’s most famous historical characters in London, and basked in the sunshine at the seaside resort town of Worthing, near the popular seaside city of Brighton. You can read more of the things to see and do in Brighton and Worthing for inspiration on visiting this vacation playground.
Transport options are plentiful with the country well serviced by air travel, Buses and trains. Our preferred option for travel is by vehicle and if you have the time it’s well worth hiring a vehicle to truly explore the countryside. We hired a vehicle on our 2017 visit and drove from the south to the north visiting many small villages. One of our favourite places was Oxford and you can read more of what to see and do in Oxford including how to visit the magnificent Blenheim Palace.
Bristol is another favourite which shouldn’t be missed, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there taking in the culture, food and nightlife of this culturally diverse city. Read more on what to expect during a visit to Bristol including where to stay and must visit attractions. In southern England we have visited the towns of Guildford and Farncombe, and explored the River Wey and Goldalming Navigations. Both Picturesque places full of outstanding beauty and well worth a visit when next in Surrey.
Further south we visited Portsmouth. Home to the Mary Rose exhibition at the historic dockyards and the HMS Victory.
Accommodation
A trip to England would not be complete without a visit to London and accommodation in this city caters to most budgets, however expect to pay more a little more than other parts of England, and prices vary depending on the time of year. See our guide to London hotel accommodation for what to expect during a stay in and around the centre of London.
Wherever your travels take you through England you are sure to have an experience and memories that will last a lifetime.
